WHY CHOOSE A HARDWOOD FLOOR?
There are many reasons why hardwood floors are a great option:
more hygienic and sanitary than carpets - great for kids, pets and allergy sufferers.
easier to clean and stain resistant spills - spill a little wine on the floor? The floor finish will protect the wood so long as it is clean up quickly, whereas a carpet would absorb the wine...
hardwood floors do not need to be replaced often, repairing and sanding * re-finishing the floor is generally all the maintenance that is required.
hardwood floors are far more sustainable than vinyl or carpets. Less chemicals are used the in the manufacturing process and wood is a renewable material, unlike crude oil used in other forms of flooring.
add value to your home. Although more expensive than other flooring systems, hardwood floors are a lifelong investment, whereas carpets last up to around 15 years.
BEAUTY - hardwood floors look exquisite new and age with grace. When you want to freshen up the room, sand and re-finish the floor without replacing.

WHAT TYPE OF FLOOR IS EASIEST TO MAINTAIN?
Lacquered floors are easiest to clean and maintain although they do scratch a little more easily than oiled floors. This is because a lacquered floor has a thin coat of PU film on top of it, whereas oiled floors have oil that has been soaked into the timber.
WHICH FINISH SHOULD I CHOOSE?
The type of finish you should choose depends on personal preference and functionality. We offer only lacquer and oil (hardwood oil) for reasons mentioned below. Lacquer is best suited to high traffic areas that are more prone to spills such as kitchens, bathrooms and hallways due to water resistance and durability. Whereas an oil could be used in areas such as bedrooms, lounges and cloakrooms. Oils accentuate the natural look of the timber whereas lacquers do this a little less. Both options are available from silk through to matt and in-between and it is possible to slightly change the colour using a coloured finish.
DO YOU ALSO LAY CARPETS OR VINYL?
No. We offer only hardwood floor installation, renovation and maintenance.
WHY DON'T YOU OFFER STAINING?
By carefully selecting an oil or lacquer we are able to change the colour of a wood floor to a certain degree. For further change a stain is required and this changes the natural look of the floor as the pigments makes the floor look cheap and unprofessional. In addition, if the stain chosen is not favourable, the floor must be deeply sanded to remove the stain as the nature of a stain is a pigment that is absorbed into the grain of the timber. Sanding to such a degree can cause problems such as sanding into the engineered part of the boards, or sanding the board too thin causing structural issues. All in all, staining causes more problems than it solves.
